He’s a real person, a real medical doctor, and a visionary. His is one of those pull-yourself-out-of-the-muck events, and much better than the rags-to-riches stories. Hunter (Patch) Adams began this adventure self-committed to an insane asylum for attempting suicide, it seemed his life lacked purpose and inspiration. By interacting with other patients, Patch helped his cellmate overcome debilitating fear. Patch’s career was born. From this abysmal beginning, Patch became a medical doctor.
