You Went To Heaven On Easter Sunday.

Junior,
Although some folks will be grumpy and complain, you earned your place at the very front of the line. Heaven gained a terrific and humble spirit, but we here lost the most honest, sincere, and friendly man I’ve ever known.

Don’t you dare slouch, nor mumble apologies as you approach those Pearly Gates. Hold your head up, my friend, because you have so much to be proud of. I’m not the most trusting fellow anymore, and you’re the only person I’ve given a key to our home. You were more — much, much more — than a handyman who did home-improvement projects for us. You were always approachable and honest. You put up with me asking you a bunch of questions about tiling, roof repair, hanging windows, putting in plumbing ... the list went on, and yet you never lost your patience with me. You always let me help you and learn from you.

I think of you when I open the casement windows, lean against our faux glass-block window, and recall your pretty slick tiling and painting techniques. Your skills enhanced every room in our home. We get to enjoy cool, evening breezes, thanks to your recommendations. You were head and shoulders above a master craftsman. You put your spirit, passion, and talent into everything you did for my family.
You are now with THE Master Craftsman. Learn a lot, old buddy, and please be as patient in Heaven as you were on Earth. I’m certain you have a lot to teach those folks you now join. Who knows, I bet even the Big Guy will learn a thing or two from you. Enjoy your apprenticeship and your set of wings.

One day, you and I will take that fishing trip we talked about. I bet you now know where all the great fishing holes are. You have time to repair your boat, so no more excuses.
You left us way too soon, Junior. Only 55, you were here for such a short time, but look at how many lives you touched! We pray for those you had to leave behind, especially your fiancee and little boy.

Please put in a good word for the rest of us. Going to Heaven at Easter seems a fitting reward for all you worked so hard to be. No more aches and pains — you get to rest comfortably now.

You are missed, Junior.
Your friends,
R.J. and Family

  2. Thank you, Margo. In light of his rough upbringing and difficult career, Junior was just one of those quiet, unassuming, and honest people that you would look forward to hanging out with. I appreciate your kind words. It’s frustrating that we’re immersed in the negative energy of so much worldly misery and suffering and yet the light of a truly good man gets snuffed out Way too early. It’s a stinking shame. thank you for caring and for making the effort to comment.

  3. I only hope to be a person who would warrant this eulogy. We meet few people in life whose faith, friendship, honesty and kindness shine like Junior's. May he rest in peace and may his friends exhibit the same traits as he did - then the good he did in life will live on long after he's reached his heavenly reward. Hopefully his fiancee and his little boy will be surrounded by friends, family and church family as they walk through life without Junior.
