 Artificial Intelligence "Ain’t Just Fer Terminator-thingies".


G’day everyone,

 Have you noticed how insanely fast technologies are advancing around us? Are you riding the crest of this exciting wave or struggling to catch up from way behind the wave?

 Paddling with all your might doesn’t seem to bring you any closer to those effortlessly enjoying their ride atop the crest? Worst case, are you one of the many who chose to sit contently on the sidelines? Those riding the wave are so far ahead that you give up, content spending the rest of your life playing with your rocks and sticks?

 


Singularity, my friends, is fast approaching. Many think tanks state that by 2045, we’ll experience a massive series of shifts in beliefs and common knowledge that a massive gap will launch the newest adults into a realm of comprehension that will drive an elephantine wedge between the haves and the have-nots.

 


Already, entire payment and accounting systems are being overhauled by Bit Coin; cars that drive themselves ... smart phones and watches ... drones ... and artificial intelligence (AI) appears to be the engine that’s driving accelerated learning and process improvements.

 


The following article doesn’t get into the egghead-ery of artificial intelligence as it describes conditions and applications where machine-level learning will advance many technologies to a point when the miraculous accomplishments of today become tomorrow’s mundane.

 


I was impressed to learn that AI is helping re-forest as many as 100,000 saplings every day, that asteroid mining will be the next source of manufacturing raw materials, and the list leapfrogs onward. 

 


Sadly, no matter how hard many of us will try to keep up and learn, those born into this generation where AI-influenced designs and processes are commonplace, a large disparity will exist.

 


Already, I believed I was on the cutting-edge of learning about BitCoin and its processes. Yet, while diving deeper into the subject, I saw how woefully unprepared I am for this already-entrenched and sun-setting transaction platform. Makes me want to go sit in the grass and poke at ants with a stick.

 


Well, I believe this story does a very good job of providing a sample of discoveries, industries, and processes that will benefit from implementing artificial intelligence into their design.




This gave me an idea for a novel. Do any of you remember the SciFi movie starring Farah Fawcett where an AI robot goes rogue? Certainly, SkyNet and the whole Terminator series creeps into our heads, but my story concept will be of a different nature.
