Lefty’s Beef Brisket Sandwich Melt - Monday’s Reviews

G’day everyone,

I’ve traveled the world, and one dish I always avoid is beef brisket, and that’s because all the jokes about a brisket used to be true. I say “used to be” because that was the case until I ate a beef-brisket sandwich melt at Lefty’s BBQ Restaurant in Crossville, Tennessee, USA. Lefty’s isn’t far off of I-40, about one hour west of Knoxville and two hours east of Nashville.

What follows is my full review that can also be found in Google’s Local Guides.

It was fantastic.
I gave the meal and service a 5 Stars out of 5.
Here is my review:

I have detested beef brisket because of all the fat and usually stringy, clumped-together gobs of the stuff. Occasionally, I'd come across a chewy piece of brisket meat that only contained enough fat to floss while I chewed. Appealing, right?
Based solely upon the recommendations of the in-laws, I hesitatingly ordered the beef-brisket melt.

Lefty’s beef-brisket melt sandwich is truly amazing! From the first bite to the last, I savored every morsel of it. It would seem that my life is pitiful if I give such glowing remarks about a mere sandwich.

However, my dear skeptics, this is not just a sandwich — mine was a slice of Nirvana. Imagine two perfectly grilled and seasoned slices of bread stuffed with thick, melted cheese and tender, mouthwatering chunks of beef brisket. Now, top that with a dipping sauce of medium BBQ sauce, and I was ready to lick the plate clean.

Sad, right? Well, I eagerly await an excuse to meet the in-laws again in Crossville at Lefty’s.

Btw, the cup of accompanying beef stew was delicious, too.it came with the melt. I’m not a fan of beef stew, either, because most have fatty chunks of tough meet and undercooked vegetables floating in an oily broth. Not Lefty’s version — Just like the beef-brisket melt, the beef stew had a great flavor, the meat and vegetables had the perfect consistency, and the broth was a unique blend of beef stock and a smoky, light BBQ sauce. Although I don’t think I’d enjoy a full meal of just beef stew (as the flavors are all blended into one) it perfectly complemented the beef-brisket melt.

I’m a hefty guy, and this meal filled me up nicely. Usually open to a dessert, I was too full from the meal.

Our server was friendly and engaging, and the manager seemed genuine and interested as he mingled among all customers.

Lefty’s is a refreshingly remarkable restaurant that stands out from all the generic chain restaurants.

Did I change my mind about beef brisket?
Nope, but I’ll drop almost anything I’m doing for an invitation to have a melted brisket sandwich again at Lefty’s.

  1. I've had some delicious brisket at Dickie's but your description of Lefty's makes me want to try it. If they had sides of ham and bean soup, grits and hush puppies it would make a good brisket meal spectacular!

  2. *Urp!!* The only good bowl of ham and beans is one stowed in a leak-proof barrel crammed into the bottom of a cave of a nuclear waste dump. I bet the very last pot of that glop is sealed in a plastic box in the trunk of the Tesla that Elon musk sent rocketing off toward Mars. Sitting next to it in the teslas trunk is likely to be the last brick of fruitcake ever made (back in 1603, I’m told). Thank you for your comments.
