G’day everyone,
I took my time writing this post, and my reasons were twofold: First, I ate Mexico Lindo’s tamales several times because I found it difficult to believe that they were always delicious. Second, I was concerned that if the word got out to more foodies because of this review, then Mexico Lindo might run out of tamales before I could get my share. Already I worry because I’ve seen several customers leave Mexico Lindo carrying sacks full of tamales — seriously. So you see, I didn’t want to add to the stampede that would likely ensue after even more folks learn about Mexico Lindo’s amazing tamales.
What makes them amazing? Everything about them. They’re hand made with thick, flavorful cornmeal wrapped around tender pork, chicken, or beef. Blended with spices, the tamales are then drizzled with a traditional brown tamale sauce.
But wait, there’s more!
I could stop there and describe all the meal combinations you could make by combining the tamales with a taco, enchilada, or quesadilla, but I’m not going there. Trust me, though, it’s all very good. No, rather I’m going to let you in on a dish that might get overlooked while browsing the menu.
How does Mexico Lindo make their tamales even better? They ladle a helping of homemade chili atop two tamales (of choice) and top that with shredded cheese.
The chili makes “amazing” into “freaking amazing.” all flavors combine to make the perfect tamale meal. Mexico Lindo’s chili isn’t too hot or too spicy, and it’s not overloaded with one ingredient or another. It’s simply the perfect addition to their delicious tamales. The chili contains a not-so-secret ingredient that I never thought of adding to a chili recipe. And that’s all I’m going to say about it. You’ll have to go to Mexico Lindo and try the “tamales and chili” dish for yourself.
I’ve eaten tamales at restaurants in Mexico, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and throughout the USA, and Mexico Lindo’s tamales are truly the best I’ve ever had.
Perfect additions to the tamale and chili dish include a plate of tasty rice and a large order of their creamy guacamole.
I have gobbled down my tamales and chili during one seating, but now that stupid, old diabetes gets in the way, I usually take home enough leftovers to make another meal of the tamales, chili, rice, and guacamole. I believe the tamales and chili dish are reasonably priced, as are the sides of rice and the large bowl of guacamole. Sadly, I can’t recommend the small side of guacamole because it’s disappointingly tiny and unsatisfying for two people to share. Get the large guacamole, it’s worth every bite.
Well, writing this review has made me hungry for Mexico Lindo’s tamales and chili. I’m out of here.
